Welcome to Brooks Daniel

Brooks Daniel arrived happy and healthy on Wednesday, May 27th at 12:52 pm, weighing in at 8 lbs, 12 oz, and 19" long... the exact same size as Emerson when she was born. He arrived to Belinda Carlisle's song "I'm mad about you", which seemed fitting, but one of the doctors thought that we should have declared the next song, Cheeseburger Paradise by Jimmy Buffet as his first. It just didn't seem to fit the moment. ;-)

Emerson and Brooks have very similar features, but Brooks is definitely more of a Lacey. His skin and hair is lighter and his eyes are dark blue (for now). He also has been blessed with the Lacey dimple chin...HA! He looks like a cute little Irish boy.
We were worried about how Emerson would adjust to sharing our attention, but she has exceeded all expectations. She truly is the best big sister and is loving every moment with Brooks. She came to the hospital multiple times a day to visit her Mommy and brother and has been great at home with Daddy.

Brooks has been welcomed home by the dogs. They don't look too shocked, but you can almost hear them sighing "not another one". Emerson has been so helpful at home. She has been eager to help with diaper changes, picking up, singing to Brooks and overall smothering him with love.

The tough part to life with two has been adjusting to little to no sleep. Brooks is on opposite sleep schedules and we're trying to keep him up more during the day. And I thought being pregnant and stressed at work was a recipe for no sleep, but it just doesn't compare! I'm sure it will progressively get better and we will manage.

Brooks is blessed to have met so many wonderful family members and friends. He is definitely loved. Thank you all for visiting, for the lovely gifts and cards, and for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. We're blessed to have Brooks in our life and look forward to each and every day with our two little angels.

We're getting ready for his baptism and for a visit from Dan's mom and sister. It will be great for everyone to meet his mom and for us to have some more quality time. We'll keep you posted on his progress.
